Ellipses is the first record composed by electric and upright bassist Francesco Ponticelli, who proves to be serious about experimental suggestions and his refinement in building the sound of his work on the first try. These are twelve tracks, with indefinite shape, elliptical, that is to say not oriented along a straight path, where the electronic element, artfully created by John Arnold, seems to provide the relevant background for a project developed towards infinite directions. Those ones that since from Electric Wood, Windmills And Corn and Walk By Heart clear a path through the depth and flexibility of a sound that evolves with different levels of density: the one that sounds cutting which is produced by the violin of Luisiana Russo and by her own voice used as an instrument; the one performed by the rough sound of harmonics played by Francesco Diodato on guitar, or that kind of solid texture maintained by the electric and upright bass of Ponticelli who, together with drummer Enrico Morello, invents the most various rhythmic patterns even with a regular and lilting pace. |
