Under the trademark of Vinyl Maniacs, the Evergrey’s bassist Johan Niemann deals with a really interesting work for the project Hollingshead of which is one of the authors together with the pianist and organ player Carl Westholm (Avatarium, Candlemass, Carptree, Krux), the drummer Fredrik Haake (Badge, Meldrum, The Vanity Set, God is my co-pilot, MOA, Roger Manning, Andy Summers, Sideburn) and the singer Gidon Tannenbaum (Mother Kasabian, Obrero, Space Elevators, Black Wizard’s, Wreckless Machine). |
Sotto il marchio di fabbrica della label Vinyl Maniacs, il bassista degli Evergrey Johan Niemann si cimenta in una produzione davvero interessante con il progetto Hollingshead essendone uno degli artefici insieme al pianista e organista Carl Westholm (Avatarium, Candlemass, Carptree, Krux), al batterista Fredrik Haake (Badge, Meldrum, The Vanity Set, God is my co-pilot, MOA, Roger Manning, Andy Summers, Sideburn) e al cantante Gidon Tannenbaum (Mother Kasabian, Obrero, Space Elevators, Black Wizard’s, Wreckless Machine). |

“Stay Dead” includes high-quality compositions, immersed in an atmosphere hanging between doom and hard progressive, space rock of high-profile which is able to recover the saturation point in the manner of Hawkwind so as to introduce dark and psych inserts mindful also of Black Sabbath, as it is natural. The harmony is total and this debut, we are sure about that, shows great potential, in hopes that it will be the begin of a new saga. The focal role of both keyboards and organ is really distinctive and the pomposity in some moments is a risky choice but winning. So let’s welcome to Hollingshead and take note of this double prove of all respect made by Johan Niemann.

“Stay Dead” presenta composizioni di ampio respiro, calate in un’atmosfera sospesa tra doom e hard progressive, space rock di spessore che va a recuperare la saturazione à la Hawkwind per immetterci inserti tenebrosi e psych memori anche, come è naturale, dei Black Sabbath.
L’affiatamento è totale e questo esordio, lo diciamo senza incertezza alcuna, promette molto bene, sperando sia l’inizio di una nuova epopea. Il ruolo focale di tastiere e organo è molto distintivo e la pomposità in alcuni momenti è scelta rischiosa ma vincente. Diamo il benvenuto dunque agli Hollingshead e annotiamo una doppia prova di tutto rispetto di Johan Niemann.
