What about when some brave veterans like the german Mass come back to record this way? You have sufficient reason to be gratified with. They started in 1973 and cranked out all eight albums until 1986 that was the year of the band split; Mass return with a renewed freshness, under the enlightened guidance of Günther V. Radny, the bassist and unique member left of the original line-up. |
Che dire, quando dei valorosi veterani come i tedeschi Mass tornano ad incidere in questo modo, c’è di chi rallegrarsi. Formati addirittura nel 1973 e autori di ben otto album fino al 1986, anno del loro scioglimento, i Mass si ripresentano con rinnovata freschezza, sotto l’illuminante guida di Günther V. Radny, bassista e unico membro rimasto della formazione originale. |

This german group with their new album Still Chained move through an aggressive classic rock tinged with remarkable and fitting influences of Deep Purple, with lots of organ fugues. The interplay of the instruments is well-balanced, the skillful performance is indisputable and the blunt honesty of their proposal is an added value. |
La band tedesca si muove con questo Still Chained in un aggressivo classic rock dalle notevoli e felici influenze “purpliane”, con tanto di lunghe fughe d’organo. L’amalgama tra gli strumenti è ben calibrato, la perizia esecutiva è fuori discussione, la schietta onestà della proposta è un valore aggiunto. |

Thus, it’s still possible to play like that these days, without in any way becoming outdated or old-fashioned. Thanks to Still Chained, Mass are taking back the stolen goods of the several years of silence, with a vigor that should learn so much to the many young hard rock directionless bands. |
Si può dunque ancora suonare così, di questi tempi, senza per questo risultare superati o datati. Anzi. Con Still Chained, i Mass si riprendono il maltolto dei tanti anni di stop, con un vigore che dovrebbe insegnare molto a tante giovani band hard rock senza una particolare direzione. |

The choice of recording an album with fifteen tracks is also courageous; all the songs are excellent characterized by a mature and gritty sound. The title track is equally beautiful with an effective lead bass; the same applies to the hard and elegant “Dark night”, the metronomic “Born to lose”. The riff of “Time runs out” is very successful, this is one of the most enthralling ever. Anyway it’s difficult to choose the most representative episodes, given the high standard maintained with ease for the whole length of the album. |
Coraggiosa anche la scelta di licenziare un disco con ben quindici brani, tutti di ottima fattura e caratterizzati da un impasto sonoro maturo e grintoso. Molto bella la title track, con un efficace basso guida, la dura e elegante “Dark night”, la metronomica “Born to lose”, riuscitissimo il riff di “Time runs out”, una delle tracce più trascinanti in assoluto. Difficile però scegliere gli episodi più rappresentativi, considerato lo standard alto mantenuto con disinvoltura per tutta la durata dell’album. |

Still Chained is a record that will surelly seduce anyone loves classic hard rock but also the many enthusiasts of german hard’n’heavy scene, an assurance as regards style and longevity. We certainly enhance this happy return, confident that this discographic chapter will be the beginning of a renewed and powerful continuation.

Still Chained è un disco che sedurrà senza dubbio chiunque ami l’hard rock classico, ma anche per i numerosissimi amanti della scena hard’n’heavy tedesca, una garanzia in fatto di stile e longevità. Promuoviamo senza dubbi questo felice ritorno, certi che questo episodio discografico sia l’inizio di una… ringiovanita e potente continuazione.
